Beaumont 2019 is a blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and a drop (2%) of Petit Verdot.  It opens with the expected red and black berry aromas, a medium to full bodied wine with lovely fruitiness and some sweetness (from the Merlot), but concentrated throughout with a touch of spicy plum on the finish (the Petit Verdot perhaps!). It is characterised by roundness, harmony and fruitiness.\u003cbr\u003eComing from a big hot vintage, the tannins are ripe and soft and is ready to drink but will keep at least 10 years.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eChateau Beaumont is a Cru Bourgeois Supérieur from the village of Cussac - between Saint Julien and Margaux so in esteemed company! It's owned by the same people who own Beychevelle and Lagrange so a great pedigree. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe 2019 Vintage was really excellent! A mild wet winter followed by a decent Spring and a very hot dry summer - pretty close to perfect conditions for ripening grapes! \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSo a wine from a great vintage, with a 90 point score, at this price? Surely a must have!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDecanter says\u003cbr\u003e92 Points\u003cbr\u003eDark brambles on the nose. Great intensity and sculpted fruit here, this has some dark fruits and definite liquorice aspects to the palate but feels really precise and controlled. It's smooth with soft tannins and good presence until the end. Also has great freshness and cooling mint cordial tang on the finish. I love it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRobert Parker's Wine Advocate says\u003cbr\u003e90 Points (90-95 is outstanding!)\u003cbr\u003eThe 2019 Beaumont has turned out very well, wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet berry fruit, pencil shavings and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, supple and enveloping, with a fleshy core of fruit, lively acids and melting tannins, it's charming and nicely balanced. It is a full fresh rich mouthful of surprising quality. The blend is 50% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Petit Verdot. However, because this is 100% Petit Verdot from what was formerly an island on the Garonne - a clay\/limestone site that is exclusively planted with Petit Verdot, with an average age of 79 years - it is listed as a Grand Vin de Bordeaux. It's better than many Haut Medocs though!!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePetit Verdot is grown across the Haut Medoc but generally in small quantities - although it does provide 20% of the blend for the Chateau Belle-Vue itself. It ripens later than the other varietals but does help the blend (it's supposed to add tannin, colour and flavour, in small amounts - It allegedly 'stiffens' the mid-palate of Cabernet Sauvignon!)\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe 2018 vintage has a lovely aromatic burst of fresh berries and cherries followed by a full fresh mouthful of perfumed red and black fruits. While 85% is aged in Austrian oak, only 20% is new oak so it sits subtly (and supplely if that's a word) in the background and never interferes with the fresh fruit flavours.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is a real find and offers something different but so good!
