Beaumont 2019 is a blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and a drop (2%) of Petit Verdot.  It opens with the expected red and black berry aromas, a medium to full bodied wine with lovely fruitiness and some sweetness (from the Merlot), but concentrated throughout with a touch of spicy plum on the finish (the Petit Verdot perhaps!). It is characterised by roundness, harmony and fruitiness.\u003cbr\u003eComing from a big hot vintage, the tannins are ripe and soft and is ready to drink but will keep at least 10 years.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eChateau Beaumont is a Cru Bourgeois Supérieur from the village of Cussac - between Saint Julien and Margaux so in esteemed company! It's owned by the same people who own Beychevelle and Lagrange so a great pedigree. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe 2019 Vintage was really excellent! A mild wet winter followed by a decent Spring and a very hot dry summer - pretty close to perfect conditions for ripening grapes! \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSo a wine from a great vintage, with a 90 point score, at this price? Surely a must have!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDecanter says\u003cbr\u003e92 Points\u003cbr\u003eDark brambles on the nose. Great intensity and sculpted fruit here, this has some dark fruits and definite liquorice aspects to the palate but feels really precise and controlled. It's smooth with soft tannins and good presence until the end. Also has great freshness and cooling mint cordial tang on the finish. Medium to full-bodied, supple and enveloping, with a fleshy core of fruit, lively acids and melting tannins, it's charming and nicely balanced. It is a full fresh rich mouthful of surprising quality. The palate is medium-bodied, delicately played and pleasantly chewy with plenty of freshness and lovely purity on the finish. The wine was aged for 15 months in French oak, 40% new. The blend is 50% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Petit Verdot. There is a real mix of land - undulating hills and relatively flat areas, unlike the smaller, more renowned, but much more expensive regions like Cote Rotie* and Condrieu, which have steep terraced vineyards, smaller production and are vastly more expensive!\u003cbr\u003eBecause of the relatively large production in Crozes Hermitage (the main Co-operative takes over 50% of production) it is important to be selective, and Graillot is very selective!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Northern Rhone is quite different from the Southern Rhone in that the terroir is different but so also is the climate. The Northern Rhone has a more continental climate - wetter, cooler winters - than the Southern Rhone.
