Complimentary Wine offer - put away your phone!
A restaurant in Verona, Italy is getting great publicity with it's latest promotion - if you hand in your phones on arrival, you get a complimentary bottle of wine (good wine they claim!).
Seems eminently sensible to enjoy your meal and your partner or friends company without distraction, especially as a 2018 study published in the journal of Experimental Social Psychology found that diners were more likely to report feeling distracted if they used a phone during a meal with friends and family. This also dampened their enjoyment of the occasion.
No brainer you'd say but ... a lot of restaurants used to be strict and have wavered over time as it is generally good publicity if a Diner posts pictures of their food etc.
Personally, I'd be happy to hand my phone in,
as long as there wasn't a big match on at the time !
