COULD YOU WRITE A TASTING NOTE?
Every wine we put up on the website needs a tasting note but what works best? How much information does the customer actually want?
We generally try to personalise it somehow, to show that we know the wine well. We add a bit of background - especially if we have visited that vineyard etc- but it is still a tasting note so it has to give guidance on style, structure, flavours etc.
I read a competitor's tasting note recently where they described the walk through the beautiful vineyards etc but never really mentioned the wine.
When we had the shop in Blackrock, we ran a competition to explain a Tasting note one of our wines had received in the Press - the article had said that it was a 'Nubile, naked, running through the forest sort of wine' - and we still don't know what they meant!
So, we have this idea!
We are going to organise a Wine Tasting of our direct imports , all excellent and award winners (including some premium wines)
and we want you to come!
BUT you must give us a tasting note on each wine!
It only has to be one or two lines but, if you do that for us, we'll refund the fee.
We haven't worked out the logistics yet (other than the venue, KERB, Foxrock Village),
but if you are interested in participating,
just email info@webwines.ie
and we'll put you on the invite list!
Some examples of different types of reviews on our website include
Ch. Penin Tradition. Bordeaux
Proelio Vinedos Viejos Garnacha, Rioja
Reserve de Leoville Barton, St Julien, Bordeaux
Meursault en Ormeau, Boyer Martenot
