Article: Easter Dinner wines - Lamb, Ham or Chicken?

Easter Dinner wines - Lamb, Ham or Chicken?

It was always a difficult question when the customer asked for a recommendation for a bottle of wine from our Wine List, and then said that they were having steak and their companion had ordered the fresh fish!  Unless they wanted a glass of something different, we would have to recommend a bottle for the steak or the fish - or an in-between option which would be nice, but maybe not memorable!

At the end of the day you should drink what you like with your Easter Dinner but if having Lamb (roasted etc) then Rioja or Southern Rhone were always well received.
Southern Rhone, with it's blend of Grenache and Syrah (and others) always appealed to us as more versatile - you could have a heavier styled Chateauneuf du Pape, an appealing lively Vacqueyras or a rich but soft Cairanne - and of course all the more normal Cote du Rhone wines !**

Of course, Rioja is still a great match, especially the ultra silky Proelio Reserva or it's big brother Puerto Rubio Single vineyard (95 points!)

And before you email, No we have not yet discovered a good No Alcohol Rhone!

** That's what we'll do - we'll taste them against each other at one of our Tasting & Tapas nights in Kerb this summer!
