Value Wines - what is 'Value'?
Value Wines ... well now, what does that mean?
We notice that Wine Spectator has listed it's 10 Top Value Wines online (Feb 26 printed edition) and 3 or 4 are widely available in Ireland - at between €20-€30 per btl
So what is VALUE?
Well, this is close to our hearts so let's think about it!
A definition of Value - the regard that something is held to deserve, the importance, worth or usefulness of something
Wine Spectator says - A value wine requires care, thoughtful farming, attentive winemaking and , just as important, a clear eyed approach to quality and price
All their chosen wines had scored over 90 points as a starting point so there was definitely quality - and we like that!
This is really the point - you can buy 'wine' anywhere but it should offer something more than alcohol!
Like, for example,
Solo Roberto Pinot Grigio 2024, Friuli Graves, Italy €17.95
Voted best Pinot Grigio in Italy last year!
Proelio Reserva 2018 Rioja, Spain €22.00
92-93 points from all the critics
Even better value! Leave a (valuable) comment to this blog and we'll send you a 10% Discount Code!

Great! I thought the Proelio Reserva was great value before you gave 10% discount!
