Chateau Labégorce 2018 Margaux, Bordeaux
Minimum order: 6 bottles. We sell in cases of 6 or 12 to ensure you get the best deal, best price and best service.
The Labégorce 2018 opens up superbly on the nose - bright floral aromas, a big rich mouthful of cassis-like fruit with bouncy, chewy tannins alongside bramble fruits and some spice. It finishes long and lush!
It is ready to drink now but will reward patience for another 10-15 years at least!
With the addition of Labegorce Zede etc (see below) and the resultant replantings coming on stream, the blend in the 2018 Labegorce has 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, the first vintage in years to be Cabernet dominant. Labégorce has ccontinued it's recent improvements and sits close to the best in Margaux (where it's owners always felt it belonged).
Robert Parkers Wine Advocate
93 Points Deep garnet-purple colored, it leaps from the glass with a beautiful perfume of kirsch, black cherry compote and cassis, plus hints of licorice, lilacs and baking spices. The medium-bodied palate is elegantly played with soft tannins and compelling freshness supporting the fragrant red and black fruits, finishing on a spicy note.
Wine Spectator
92 Points, Silky and refined in feel, with perfumy black currant paste, plum reduction and blackberry compote notes forming the core while sandalwood, black tea and cedar accents drape the finish.
Decanter
93 Points. Bright floral aromas, super vibrant cranberry-cassis flavours, and a plump richness
Ch Labégorce is a vineyard that has shown huge improvement since the Perodo family took over and started reuniting all the vineyards in the original Ch Labegorce (broken up after French Revolution into Labegorce, Labegorce Zede and L’Abbe Grosse de Grosse).
Not classified in 1855 - due to family squabbles according to the owners- it has shown huge improvements in the last 15-20 years and now ranks with it's illustrius neighbours, including Ch Margaux, Ch Lascombes, Ch Malescot St Exupery, Ch Marquis d'Alselme (same owners!)
