The Southern Rhone differs from the Northern Rhone (Syrah country!) as it's climate is more 'mediteranean' and suitable for lots of different grape types. While Grenache is considered the king of the south of the Rhône, Syrah is still very important to the blend. . 
What makes L'Estévenas Cairanne different than it's peers is the syrah in this wine, which comes from one of the oldest vineyards in Southern Rhone. Farmed organically, it is hand harvested and provides low - but rich - yields. 

The 2023 vintage (40% Grenache., 60% old vine Syrah) opens with distinct notes of black olive and liquorice - expanding into a rich and explosive nose. On the palate it is medium-to-full-bodied - a soft palate with inherent sweetness (juicy dark fruit flavours, a touch of mocha, fine soft tannins)  and a lovely balance of acidity and tannins leading to a seamless mouthfeel. The finish is long, silky and elegantly structured, with black fruit lingering on and on.  The benchmark of all Alary wines is 'balance' and they got it spot on again here!

Wine Spectator said " Alary Estévenas - black olive, smoky bacon, a crisp acidity and brisk, saline edge. I can't get enough of this wine!"

Wine Advocate said "Ripeness—without overdoing it—is a feature of the estate's red wines.
Worth a search of the market for these wines, given that prices at this pace-setting domaine have remained relatively stable.

Cairanne is a Southern Rhone Cru - the highest quality rating available. It shares 'Cru' status with Chateauneuf-du-pape, Vacqueyras, Gigondas and Tavel (dry Rosé only) amongst others. Due to it's geography and climate, Cairanne is highly regarded for both it's Red and White wines.
