A lovely fresh and approachable wine, with subtle scents on the nose. 35% aged in new oak but barely noticeable on the nose or palate, and doesn't mask the soft red and wild fruit flavours. Great fruit throughout but never heavy - a quality wine, drinking now but with great aging potential.  

On a recent trip to Portugal, we tried it with numerous different foods and were pleasantly surprised by it's versatility. It worked very well with grilled fish with the soft fruit showing well, and the smooth mouthfeel complimenting the grilled fish. It was also great with Iberian ham and the like as it has a quality backbone throughout. A top class all rounder! 

The 2023 has a bird on the label - And yes (before you ask) the labels are drawn by the children of the estate and change with every vintage!

Herdade da Malhadinha is located in the Baixo Alentejo, about 2 hours drive south East of Lisbon. They have accommodation available (A Hotel & Villas) so if ever in that part of the world, it's worth a visit. HERDADE DA MALVADINHA
