'Trus' is the Ribera part of Palacios Vinos de Finca, our multiple Award Winning Spanish winery.  While they are lucky to have lots of small parcels of old (and very old) vines throughout Rioja & Ribera, this wine is from their youngest vineyards - only 15-20 years old on average (the emphasis on only is mine!).
These vineyards are situated at 700-800 meters and the Tinta Fina (Tempranillo) is treated traditionally as they search for the perfect balance between fruit and extraction.  It does help that the Wine maker Raúl Tamayo has just been voted as one of the Top 100 Winemakers in the world!

The 2025 Vintage in Ribera was characterised by low yields (2 years in a row) but exceptionally high quality. The harvest was a fraction later than normal as it was a little cold but they ended up with wines with beautiful concentration, balanced acidity, and impressive ageing potential.   But that's a vintage view!  How is Trus itself? 

It's full bodied, with a big dark cherry colour. You'll get the expected red fruits on the nose with spicy nuances, it is full and fresh in the mouth, with smooth tannins despite their youth.
As Palacios say themselves it's 'a direct wine, with a brief ageing in oak that retains fresh fruit flavours and mild spices'.  But don't mind that oak reference - it does spend 3 months in oak (French & American) but none of it is new, so it's subtle not dominant.

TRUS is an acronym for Earth, Oak, Grape and Sun (in Spanish! - Tierra, Roble, Uva y Sol) 

This vintage has just been released and awaits Vintage scores.
We expect it to impress the critics as per previous vintages - 91 points is the normal!!
