Auxey Duresses 1er Cru Les Duresses 2020 Domaine Prunier Bonheur, Burgundy
Minimum order: 6 bottles. We sell in cases of 6 or 12 to ensure you get the best deal, best price and best service.
Not all Burgundy wines have to be Meursault or Nuits St Georges, so we went looking for something else - and we found it in Domaine Prunier Bonheur. This wine is from the village of Auxey Duresses where there are only 150 Ha of vines - nearly a trade secret!
The 'Les Duresses' vineyard itself is at the entrance to the village, on the south facing hillside and forms a line with the excellent Monthelie 1er Cru. The vines are over 90 years old so there is real quality to work with.
This wine itself, Auxey Duresses 1er Cru Les Duresses 2020, Domaine Prunier Bonheur offers a crystal clear ruby colour. There are aromas of red fruits & cherries with hints of blackcurrants and strawberries. It is medium to full-bodied , structured and powerful - multi layered, concentrared with a long mouth satisfying finish.
It is ready to drink now but there is no hurry - there is great aging potential. Wine Advocate said 'These are understated but flavorful wines ... I appreciated their elegant structure and aromatic complexity.
The 2020 vintage in Cotes de Beaune for red wines was excellent. Wine Spectator scored the vintage 94 points and Wine Advocate scored it 95-Outstanding. Still tannic, youthful or slow to mature.
Pascal Prunier himself said ' The 2020s are structured and powerful with silky tannins, great qualities for wines with aging potential'
