Macon Verzé 2024 Domaine Leflaive, Burgundy

So, since Domaine Leflaive wines are forever sold out in advance - on a strict allocation basis - this is as close as most people get to the heady heights of Domaine Leflaive*

This wine is shown the same care and attention as all those wines from Leflaive that we won't get to taste! 
The fermentations are in a mix of stainless steel vats, foudres, concrete tanks and 600L barrels. It's aged for 10 moths, on it's lees, in those fermentation vessels and then for 6 months in stainless steel tanks (still on it's lees). 

It has lovely crisp acidity, balanced weight, hints of Granny Smith, lime, grapefruit and crushed stones. It's medium bodied with the acidity beautifully balanced through the palate, and is quite rich for a Macon. It finishes fresh and lingers with citrusy notes. 
It's immediately recognisable as a Leflaive wine (yes, we have visited!) and is a great introduction to the most famous White wine producer in Puligny.

Now, for the nerds!  If you buy this in Magnums the alcohol level is flagged at 12.5% but it's the same wine! 
Instead, it usually comes down to legal rounding (there is a margin of error built in), or separate bottling times etc.

*Their negotiant wines (where they buy in the grapes but vinify etc themselves in Puligny) sell at nearly €200 per btl but this is a Domaine wine - it's Leflaive's vineyard! There is a small point of difference, wherein this wine is Domaines Leflaive - the plural a subtle way of highlighting that it's their vineyard (since 2004) but not the incredibly famous Puligny vineyards.
