From Northern Italy, just South of Turin, we found this full bodied, smooth, rich and concentrated red that comes from the vineyards that immediately surround the winery. 
It's a single-vineyard Barbera and offers black cherry, berries and currant flavours with integrated spice. It sits on the palate with supple tannins and a gorgeous underpinning acidity.
If you aren't overly familiar with the Barbera varietal, think of a full-bodied Italian red that has balancing acidity and outstanding food-matching capability - a match for most foods!
This particular Barbera benefits from the large gently sloping vineyard that faces west and north, the west ripening in the sun and the north keeping freshness in the grapes and making the skins thicker and darker. An excellent addition to our range!

Can I bore you with a story from my travels in Piedmont? A few years back, we were visiting Piedmont and staying near Alba, in Bra. We were being treated fantastically by our hosts and went for lunch in a local restaurant. It was Truffle season and the Trattore paraded a large truffle around the table before shaving some onto our starters. Now, I don't LIKE Truffle! But I did try it! 
When our main course was served, the Trattore again paraded the truffle around but I declined it. He shouted into the Kitchen and his mother - the chef - came out. They pointed at me and laughed. Of course, everyone else then joined in....

I had the last laugh though - while they were laughing, I drank all the wine!
