Minimum order: 6 bottles. We sell in cases of 6 or 12 to ensure you get the best deal, best price and best service.
Prugnanello Rosso di Montepulciano is a dark ruby red color with garnet hints. Made from Sangiovese - or to be specific, Prognolo Gentile as it is known locally - it opens with an elegant bouquet of violet and citrus and slightly spicy notes of cloves.
It tastes harmonious and fruity with a pleasant and fresh finish.
While both Chianti Classico and Rosso di Montepulciano are Tuscan and made with Sangiovese. they are slightly different styles. Chianti generally has other varietals (up to 20%) and being a little further north, is a little cooler (generally a little lighter and fruitier). Montepulciano is slightly further south and a bit further inland, so gives a richer, fuller bodied style - it's practically on the Umbrian border!
Area of Confusion!
This wine -Rosso di Montepulciano - is a Tuscan Red (Sangiovese) from around the village of Montepulciano, just south of Siena. It has no connection (other than the name!) with the equally well known Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, which is a red wine from Abruzzo (that is 300 km away) made with the Montepulciano grape.
So Tuscan Montepulciano (this wine!) is a village and Abruzzo Montepulciano is a grape variety! Did I make that clear?
