Puligny Montrachet 2022 Domaine Jean Louis Chavy is the village Puligny from this excellent Domaine.
This Puligny 2022 - a great vintage - comes from vineyards with an average vine age of 50 years. It spent 11 months in oak barrels (15% new oak) and a further 7 months in stainless steel tanks before bottling.
It opens fresh and aromatic on the nose with mineral and saline notes. It offers pure, precise, lively fruit on the palate with touches of butter and brioche. It finishes clean and long. A treat!
Jean-Louis recommends an aging potential of up to 6 or 7 years. This wine is now only available in Magnums and magnums age better so .....
Last Tasted : June 2025 (from Bottle)
Please note: this wine is currently only available in Magnums!
Only Magnums (150cl) remain available, packed in 6's. We will split the case to 3 Magnums if requested. Just email us at info@webwines.ie and we'll organise it for you!
It's a well known but mostly forgotten fact that Puligny producers can have up to 15% of Pinot Blanc and/or Pinot Gris in the Puligny, but practically nobody does this - it is nearly always 100% Chardonnay.
Another forgotten fact is that you can produce red Puligny Montrachet although nobody really does - 0.05% of production is Red but, while you will see Red Chassagne Montrachet, it is very rare to see Red Puligny Montrachet. Seemingly Domaine Jean Chartron produces one but we have never seen it for sale. Many years ago though, the famed Crus of Les Caillerets & Les Pucelles did produce Red. We can only presume that the Whites were better and won out!
