Puligny Montrachet 2023 Domaine Jean-Louis Chavy, Burgundy

While this Estate was founded 200 years ago,  Domaine J-L Chavy itself is only 25 years old when Jean-Louis's father passed it on to both Jean-Louis & Alain and the 2 brothers split the original estate.
Jean-Louis's share is of approx. 7 hectares all around Puligny and white wines only. 

This, the 'village' Puligny Montrachet, is from the outstanding 2023 vintage and receives Jean-Louis's (and his son Paul's) usual treatment of careful use of wood with the benefit of old vines. The wine is aged in barrel for 11 months in a mix of barrels, of which only 15% are new.

It shows the Jean-Louis house style of being bright & pretty but with great terroir expression. It opens quietly on the nose before showing citrus and grassy notes. On the palate there are those citrus flavours mixed with white peaches and a hint of fresh baked bread. It finishes rich and full with great precision & delicacy.   

It's ready to drink now and will easily last another 5 years.
