This most recently released vintage of Charbonniére's Vacqueyras follows the usual blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah.

It is medium to full bodied with beautiful fruit intermixed with plenty of spice. Rich, lively and elegant if finishes with gentle tannins and a solid punch.

Steeped cherry and bitter plum show a streak of tobacco in this bold, concentrated red. Its tannins are firm yet finessed, giving this real structure through the broad finish. Offers good energy and iron minerality. The finish is well-packed, long and mouthwatering, wafting with charred sandalwood smoke and incense.

When we visited Domaine de la Charbonniere a few years back, it was without doubt the best Vacqueyras we tasted on our journey. Some were dearer, some were cheaper but for the money charged this was way ahead in quality and value.
